I don't know of any place that can execute with better precision, be more reliable and think ahead of what we may encounter as a team.  The relationship they have with locals, food, everything is perfect!

We hope participants go home with goals, ideas, new habits, and the desire to do more and be more in life. We have a morning and evening routine that we do together. This includes five minutes of morning meditation, movement, and gratitude journaling; and in the evening a group meeting where we journal and share our day and dig deeper into what we learned and how we can apply what we learn in our personal lives.

01 / Personal Leadership

Lake Atitlan and the surrounding areas will be our playground for the week. Some of the possible activities include a hike to a view of the lake, walking through a nature reserve with suspension bridges and waterfalls, ziplining through a jungle canopy, and jumping and swimming in Lake Atitlan. All activities will be customized to the ages and needs of each group.

02 / Adventure

We will explore several towns around the lake, immersing ourselves in the colors and culture of the Mayan people. We will see a textile demonstration with Mayan looms, visit a local market, see how chocolate is made from the raw cacao, as well as learn from artists and leatherworkers. We will also learn and practice some Spanish and local customs and shop for souvenirs.

03 / Culture

Service redefined. This service-learning trip focuses on education and connection. We will learn from Cultiva International, a nonprofit teaching local families to grow their own food and escape poverty. Over two days, we’ll engage with Mayan families, visit their homes and farms, make traditional tortillas, and play with local children. The real journey isn’t just to Guatemala, but to ourselves—immersing in the culture, colors, and flavors while disconnecting from daily life.

04 / Service Learning

What are the benefits of a Trip with Purpose?

Participation in Service Learning and seeing the positive impact that a responsible nonprofit can have on the community provides a sense of fulfillment and happiness. You will have the opportunity to interact with local communities, immerse yourself in the rich culture  and develop a deeper appreciation for local traditions and customs. You can also achieve more personal growth, empathy and shared experiences with others.

The positive part for the communities you visit includes supporting Cultiva financially through what you pay for the trip, the cultural exchange between you and the Mayan people, and the opportunity you have to pass on the information you learn to others.
